Mantas visit German Channel regularly to be cleaned at the rock and coral mounds that are the homes of the cleaner wrasses, small fish that live on the debris and parasites that the wrasses remove from mantas, sharks and fish. The mantas arrive in a line, each awaiting its turn to be cleaned. Some mantas are curious about the divers and approach to "get acquainted." Mantas have come up to me and floated slightly above me, looking me in the eyes to find out if I am a friend. The also seem to like my scuba bubbles and, perhaps, their reflection in the dome port of my camera. We frequently see eagle rays and mobula rays, but they seem more cautious.
